Accidents, severe weather, and mechanical problems can all lead to a spill of pesticides, fertilizers, anhydrous ammonia, or swimming pool chemicals. The MDA helps Minnesotans to prevent, manage, and clean up the environmental damage caused by spills.

The On-Call Team assists farmers, ag coops, manufacturers, truckers, residents, and other state agencies to respond to and cleanup spilled agricultural chemicals.

What do we do?

The On-Call Team at MDA is responsible for responding to all agricultural chemical spills that are reported.  They offer a 24/7 service and can always be reached at the number above. There are four people who staff the Team and all are highly trained and have years of experience to provide the best customer service to those who report their spills.

What is the Incident Command System?

The MDA uses the Incident Command System to respond to spills.  This system offers a standardized approach to command, control, and coordination of responders.  It is a part of the National Incident Management System (NIMS), a doctrine adopted by FEMA that provides a common, nationwide approach to enable a whole community to work together to manage all threats and hazards.  NIMS applies to all incidents, regardless of cause, size, location, or complexity.
