Nonagricultural pesticide gross sales reporting can be now be submitted by one of two methods, paper-based or web-based sales reporting.

Paper-based sales reporting

  • Paper-based reports will be accepted by mail with fees due to be paid by check. Instructions for paper-based reporting were sent along with your sales report to the registrant or registrant’s agent the first week in January. If your gross sales packet has been misplaced, you can request a copy by emailing Pesticide.Registration.MDA@state.mn.us.
  • Sales reports must be postmarked by March 1 of the year following the sales reporting year. Late fees may apply per the Pesticide Registration statute (MINN. STAT. § 18B.26 Subd. 3 (l)).

Web-based sales reporting

  • A web-based option has been added for reporting Nonagricultural Gross Sales data. The web-based option allows payment by check, credit card, or e-check. Credit card fees will apply.
  • The sales reporting deadline is March 1 of the year following the sales reporting year. Late fees may apply per the Pesticide Control statute (MINN. STAT. § 18B.26 Subd. 3 (l)).
  • Collect all sales volumes and sales dollars for each nonagricultural pesticide you sold or distributed into the state for the reporting year. Accurate reporting requires inclusion of sales data from distributors, dealers, and retailers, including internet retailers, that have sold product in or into the state. Solids must be reported in units of pounds and liquids in gallons. Note, only the nonagricultural pesticides require sales reporting by registrants as agricultural pesticides are reported by dealers.
  • Filing a sales report requires your Minnesota Department of Agriculture 8-digit license number and a 4-digit PIN. Reporting instructions including the license/PIN numbers are mailed to the registrant or registrant’s agent the first week of January. If your gross sales instructional packet has been misplaced, you can request the PIN by emailing Pesticide.Registration.MDA@state.mn.us. Note, your PIN is unique for each reporting year.
  • Please note, you cannot save partially completed sales reports for completion later. Please complete reporting through payment step once you have logged in. Also, if your computer has been idle for over an hour, you must exit the application and login again.
  • Navigate to License Application and Renewal and you will be brought to the sales reporting login page.
  • On the Pesticide Sales Report login page enter the License Number and PIN provided on page 1 of the report packet mailed to registrants. Note, your PIN will only apply to the current reporting year.
  • Select the "Create Sales Report" option followed by the "Login" button.
  • Confirm the licensee information at the top the sales data entry page is correct. If you identify updates with company/agent information or errors/omissions in the product data table, please email pesticide.registration.mda@state.mn.us.
    • Transfer of ownership may require transfer of EPA Registrations to the new owner. New EPA registration will require new MN registration.
  • A table of products currently registered under the license number is provided for ease of data entry.
    • Ensure list of products is inclusive of all products sold in Minnesota.
    • Agricultural products (Ag=YES) included in the table are exempt from reporting.
    • Disinfectant/Sanitizer products (Type=D) are exempt from sales and ACRRA fees and prepopulated as "EXEMPT". Please note that while a disinfectant product may be exempt from fees, you must still provide sales volume and sales dollar data.
    • Enter the amount sold for each product in the table. If you had no sales of a product, enter 0. The reporting units are prepopulated in the table. The amount sold must be reported in the units provided. Liquids are reported in gallons and solids in pounds. If your sales data is in a different unit, it must be converted.
    • Enter the sales dollars for each product in the table.
    • Fee amounts are automatically calculated.
      • Current sales fee rate is based upon the formula Sales Dollars minus $70,000 and multiplied by 0.50%. Amounts less than $10 will default to zero.
      • Current ACRRA fee rate is based upon the formula Sales Dollars multiplied by 0.32%. Amounts less than $10 will default to zero.
    • If required sales data is omitted from the table an error message will pop up detailing the line requiring updates and the data required.
    • Please review all data for accuracy prior to selecting "Next" to move on to the next page. You will not be able to amend the data electronically after moving to the next page.
