The MDA’s overall policy of enforcement is to obtain the highest level of voluntary compliance possible. In the majority of situations, it is the most practical approach to actually solving the issue creating a noxious weed problem.
Encouraging voluntary compliance speeds the enforcement effort and reduces the number of cases that need the legal process. This policy also allows the enforcement entities involved to save at least a portion of the funding available to deal with individuals who choose not to comply.
County agriculture inspectors (CAIs) are encouraged to meet with their county attorney before beginning the enforcement process. Click on the links in the Forms and Resources box to view and download the enforcement forms. These forms may be customized to follow your county requirements.
Please contact Emilie Justen or Tony Cortilet for any help with the enforcement process.
