Minnesota state "equal to" (E2) plants can produce and process meat and poultry products for wholesale within the state; these plants are under continuous inspection by the Minnesota Meat and Poultry Inspection Program. If you are a producer looking for a facility that can slaughter your livestock or poultry, it is a good idea to contact plants far in advance of when your animals will be ready for market. Some slaughter plants fill their schedules a year or more out.

Minnesota E2 Meat Slaughter Plants

The plants listed in this table slaughter livestock such as cattle, pigs, or goats under continuous inspection. Many of these plants also do further processing of meat into sausages, jerkies, or other processed products.

Minnesota E2 Poultry Slaughter Plants

The plants listed in this table slaughter poultry under continuous inspection. There are few facilities in Minnesota that slaughter poultry as part of their E2 operations, and the demand for E2 poultry slaughter exceeds plant capacity in Minnesota.
