The MDA – together with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, University of Minnesota Extension, soil and water conservation districts, and the Minnesota Board of Water & Soil Resources – is responsible for promoting Best Management Practices (BMPs) to protect water resources from the potential impacts of pesticide use. Specific promotion activities are carried out by the MDA and are coordinated through the MDA’s BMP Education and Promotion Team. The following is a partial list of BMP promotion activities and resources:

Presentations concerning pesticide BMPs to protect Water Quality are made to pesticide applicators, certified crop advisers, and crop producers. Sample BMP presentations are posted here. Be aware that restrictions change over time and can differ between herbicide products even with the same active ingredient. Follow the label instructions.
